Recently, a study conducted by Wakefield Research revealed that over a third of Americans are unhappy with their smiles. Dental misalignment, including crooked and crowded teeth, hinders the appearance of our smiles. Fortunately, at Alpan Orthodontics, we can correct dental imperfections. In today’s blog, your Century City orthodontist, Dr. David Alpan, explains how our orthodontic procedures can transform your smile.

Smile Correction Techniques

  • Invisalign: Instead of metal brackets and wires, Invisalign corrects smiles using clear plastic aligners. Over time, the aligners will gradually and gently improve misalignment. Approximately every two weeks, you will upgrade to a new set of aligners. For adults, the entire process typically takes a year.
  • Invisalign Teen: For teen patients, Invisalign aligners have a blue dot on the end that wears away if the aligners are worn properly. Invisalign also provides up to six replacement aligners in case your child loses or misplaces an aligner. For teens, the Invisalign process may take up to 18 months.
  • Damon System: While similar to traditional braces, the Damon system uses smaller brackets and wires for less noticeable smile improvement. For inconspicuous smile correction, we also provide Damon Clear and Damon Q.
  • Incognito Hidden Braces: Also known as lingual braces, Incognito hidden braces are custom-made and placed on the back of the teeth. This hides your braces from view. Incognito lingual braces reduce the risk of breakage and require fewer adjustments than regular metal braces.
